Our Family Trip to Hawaii!

Oh Hawaii, I miss you! It was such a great trip. The hubs and me, my 2 brother’s and their wives, my 2 nephews,  and my mom all went together to the Kona side of the Big Island. We rented this big house and just got to all hang out. To be honest I didn’t take to many pictures. I was focused on relaxing with the fam for the most part. But I did snap a few here and there.

In a nut shell below you’ll see a couple shots from the Luau we went to, My nephew’s being adorable, some of this cute Gecko that lived in the kitchen while we were there, and who we found with his face tucked deep into a cup of jelly beans a couple times (he never ate them though. I think he just liked the smell?), a stop at this beautiful old church to watch the sunset, and a couple shots of the flowers and what not that was around the house.

There are a couple weddings coming up here in the next month that I’ll look forward to shooting, and second shooting for. Can’t wait!

Aloha!

A Little Sweet Engagement

First off, notice anything different? No, I didn’t get a hair cut…..although I need one……and……my blog here looks totally different!!!! I’m so excited to show y’all the new look around here! I got a much needed facelift for my little corner of the web, and I love it! So thanks for coming to my “grand opening”! I’m so glad to have you here! =D

And for the main attraction, here is a little shoot I did with an awesome couple a few weeks back. Callie and Hagana. They met in school down south and have since moved around a bit before landing here in Santa Cruz recently. They were so fun and sweet, and just an all around joy to be around! Quick to smile, laugh, and just love on each other without hesitation. It felt so intimate and special. It was just such a beautiful, fun shoot to do! I <3 it mucho! =D

First Roll Film in, 10 Years Maybe?

Remember those disposable film cameras? Me too!  Before digital we all used those babies and just snapped away and hoped that we got some good ones. Then came the digital camera and we no longer only had 35 pictures to get the shot. Back in the day I didn’t really use photography as an artistic outlet. Besides National Geographic I didn’t see pictures that really inspired me to pick up a camera and try my hand at making art out of a picture. In the last 5 to 10 years though the evolving artistic aspect of photography has caught my eye and a several years ago I knew it would be an avenue that I would eventually travel down and now I love it!
Coming back to film however has moved my heart a bit. I’m starting to be able to tell the difference between a digital image and a film image.  I still love my digital camera and will continue to use it as my main camera for my portrait photography, but I know now that film is a part of my future and that it’s only the beginning of a beautiful relationship between the two of us.

My sister-in-law Justine was kind enough to lend me her Pentax ZX-60. I just finished my first roll of film in it and hurried away to get it developed. I am so in love! Deep rich color, beautiful film grain, and the bokeh…speechless!  I did some minor editing in Lightroom to punch up the light a bit but that’s it.

Nothing Like Laundry Day….

This was such a fun shoot! Not only because Laina and her sweety of a son were the one’s I got to shoot but also because I got to work with my lovely sis-in-law over at Amy Snow Photography.  We did a little Holiday photography package together (AKA, twice the awesomeness), and Amy’s wonderful friend Laina and her son, Jordan got in on it.
Laina and Jordan were such a joy to work with! The sweet person that Laina is and the love she has for son was so evident throughout the shoot. And Jordan was such a whole heartily sweet kid that it really left my heart warmed.  By the end of the shoot I just felt really blessed to have gotten to snap some of their photo’s. And add on bonus points for getting to share a creative passion that me and my SIL Amy both have. It was an all around great family day for all families involved!

It was a little bit of a cloudy day and we weren’t sure if it was going to rain or not. We did a normal outside shoot but we also got to throw in a themed laundromat shoot too!! IT WAS SUCH A BLAST! =D

Glitter in the Air…

I’m sorry! I had to! If your not a Pink fan then read on ahead and ignore my lame pun. =)
I’ve been a busy bee with trying to get my boudoir blog goin and editing a handful of other shoots I’ve done, but it’s been a while and I wanted to post this little session I did with my close friend Ginger.
Whats there to say about Ginger other then I love her, she’s one of my closest friends, and I just adore taking pictures of her.
This shoot was fun because there’s a place I drive by whenever I leave my house and I have been eyeing it and wanting to do a shoot there. Ginger came down to visit so I thought I would steal her and get in a couple shots. And I’m so glad I did!
There’s a little fad that I’ve seen flyin around the web using glitter. I’m a complete sucker for anything that sparkles so who better to try something new with then a friend! <3
