My Bestie

This was a really fun, causal shoot I did with my best friend Ashley over the Christmas Holiday. She and her husband recently moved up to Washington for schooling. She told me that she would be up in Sacramento for Christmas so I got my butt up there (with a cold and all) so I could see her. I miss her so much! She was in Sacramento for the last 8 years or so and it was just a comfort to know that she was always only 3 hours away.  Now she is 18 hours away (I think) and it’s hard to know that I wont get to see her as much as I used to.

I’m sure there are a lot of people out there that know what it’s like to be far away from family you love and miss. She is my sister through and through and she is just as much a part of the make up of who I am as my brothers and my mom are. We have known each other since we were 10 and 11 and have been through a lot of hard times and great times throughout life.

It was nothing short of a great trip and I’m so glad she let me steal her away to do a lil shoot. She is so gorgeous and a complete nerd! So we had a blast! I would say that she is my muse in a sense and it is so awesome to do a shoot with someone that inspires you.

P.S. I have something fun in the works for another photography page. Hint: It will be suuuuuper girly and most everyone I’ve worked with has said that every woman should do it at least once in their life, just for them even if not for someone else. =D I can’t wait to show you guys!!!

P.P.S. Did you notice my last post had Ash in it too?! Haha! I’ve had 5 shoots this month and so there are more coming down the pike! Promise! =D

The Dress

My best friend Ashley (or my sister as I call her) got hitched this year along with 2 of my other closest friends! Man, I still can’t believe they all got married in one year! Haha! I’m glad to not be the only married one anymore though! =D
Anyway, I was up in Sacramento to hang out with my Ashley (pre-wedding), and she thought it would be a great time to throw on the wedding dress she bought to show me how it fit and how it looked (we did a wedding dress hunt day but she ended up finding a cool wedding dress on Etsy). Me being the crazy maid of honor was like “DUH! PUT ON THE FLIPPIN DRESS! I HAVE TO SEE IT OOOOON!”. And I totally wanted to snap a couple shots of her in it too! So I did. We were actually at her moms house and the lighting in the dining room was stellar! And Ashley is completely beautifully stunning anyway so of course she was easy to get great shots of.
I’m going to post the pictures I took from her wedding soon but as for now, here are some pics of Ash in her wedden digs.

She is the coolest. What else can I say?

School of Whimsy

I had the joy of working with this family a couple months ago. You know how sometimes when you go somewhere expecting to give, and you come back feeling like you received so much more then you gave and you just feel totally blessed? That’s what this session was like. They had an awesome little ranch and are a homeschooling family.  I was home schooled from second grade on so it’s somewhat close to my heart. It was great to see these sweet kids in such an educationally rich environment! They had horses, chicken’s a goat, and even a bunny rabbit! There was a giant chalkboard outside where they would do their schooling and what not. It was just so cool.
The little girl was special needs and I must say that I have never met a girl so full of life, passion, excitement, and freedom. She was so great to work with and I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity. And don’t even get me started on her brother! He was so tender with her and you could tell how much he loves and cares for his little sister. They were both great to say the least!
The home they have created is so whimsical. Bathtubs made into planters, hot and cold bathtub nobs decorated the garden, an old retro riding mower stood in the middle of their huge garden as if it were a statue. I pretty much fell in love with how sweet and home grown they’ve made their home. It was nothing short of a huge helping of fun with just the right amount of whimsy sprinkled in. I almost felt like a kid myself just being there. <3
The Allen’s
Such a fun day and so special for me to be able to do! They are such a great family!

A Desert Love Wedding

Yet another one of my closest friends was married this year! This time I made the trek out to Arizona so I could stand with my bestie, Sarah, as she married the love of her life, AdamThey also have a little girl on the way but you couldn’t even tell! She was such a stunning bride!

Sarah and I met years ago at our church’s youth group, and later she would become my first housemate! Some of my best bachelorette days where spent in our little apartment hanging out, watching scary movies and doing our nails together. She taught me everything I know about doing retro hair and make-up. She has been nothing short of a great friend and one that I’m lucky to say I will always have.

She met a great guy and now they are starting a family together. I couldn’t be happier for the both of them and I love them both so much! I’m happy to share the shots I snapped in between getting ready and after the ceremony. I also got to stretch my cake making and decorating skills with making their wedding cake! I actually made the cake in California and flew it to Arizona with me. I kind of still can’t believe it made it there in whole pieces. It was such a beautiful and fun day!

Adam+Sarah

Such a perfect day for a perfect couple. I <3 them MUCHO! =D

Allllll Aboard!!

My little nephew Levi is in-love with dump trucks, but is definitely in-like with trains (Thomas the train to be exact). So what better place to do my brothers family shoot at then our local little train station. When my sister-in-law Amy said she wanted to do it there my heart did a little skip! This place has been here since before my brother’s and I were born and it’s part of our childhood memories. It’s amazing, weird, and awesome to see second generations becoming familiar with places and things that were apart of my childhood. There’s something really special about it.
I couldn’t be more happy that they asked me to do their family photos this year. Not only did I get to do their photos but my SIL is a fab photographer. Something about another photographer liking your stuff enough that they ask you to do their photos is kinda awesome! My family takes up quite a bit of real estate on my love-o-meter (would you like some crackers with that cheeeessseee? MUHAHAHAHA), so this was nothing short of a joy for me to do.
