An Engagement at the Beach: Sam + Samantha

Sam and Samantha were one of the sweetest couples, and they were so fun to do an engagement session with! They drove from Sacramento to meet me at the beach in Santa Cruz, and I’m so glad they did! Even though it was a bit cloudy we made a day of it. They are simply a beautiful couple, who obviously love each other so much!

At one point I told them that whatever they were doing was working so keep on doin it! Samantha turns to me and says “We’re arguing.” with a big smile. I laughed so hard! If this is how they argue then they will definitely have a long happy life together.<3

A Little Wedding Reception + The Newest Member of the Fam!

First, I’m ecstatic to say that I recently added the Canon  EOS 5D Mark II to the fam! I’m still thinking of a name for her, but it will come. The image quality though, is simply stunning! I’m completely in love. Which leads me to her maiden voyage!

I’m a part of a wonderful woman’s photography group here in Santa Cruz, and one of the woman who helps run it (Gail Pomare) invited the group to a wedding that she was shooting. I was able to make it to the reception and snapped a couple here and there. I brought both my 5D and my 60D (her name is Ally) but most of the pictures I’ll feature here today were taken with my new baby, the 5D.

They had amazing dessert and a hors d’oeuvres tables and I went a little nuts taking pictures there (as you’ll see), but I really love how they came out so I threw them all in. =)

The bride and groom’s names are Lisa and Jared. They really are a beautiful couple!

Special thanks to Gail Pomare Photography for inviting us all to such a wonderful wedding! =)

I’ll be back next week with another wedding! Talk to y’all then!

Sleep Over!

We had a little sleep over this week with my cutie-pie nephew Levi! He’s a dump truck loving, little  entertaining ball of energy who’s going to be 3 in October. My brother and sis-in-law are in the midst of working on their new house before they move in and asked if he could crash one night so they could get an early start. It was so fun to have him over! I snapped a couples shots in the morning of him watching some cartoons, and watching for the dump truck to come pick up our trash on the street (he has a serious love for all things big and with motors.).  These pictures really make my heart so happy! I even told my husband that having Levi around for 24 hours made me want to have a little one of our own. Children really are amazing gifts from God, and I’m so thankful for all my nephew’s and niece’s. They complete our family, and I never even knew we weren’t complete until they got here. They just amaze me. =)

Most of these are SOOC because I just wanted to get them up. Perfect or not, I’m just in love with them because of this little guy!!

Waiting for the garbage truck by the window

This one is a little blurry but I just love his face!

And here he’s playing the “sleeping game” while Uncle Mike tries to wake him up.

Here he’s “Waking up”

Then, of course, Uncle Mike had to eat him!

Levi being a “Bad Dinosaur” as he likes to say.

And watching his cartoon.

I call him the pillow pillager! Lol!

He is just so cute! And wouldn’t you know it,  I forgot my camera when my mom and me took Levi up to my other brother’s place to see his cousin (my other baby nephew) Gavin (he’s 1 and 3/4) that same day. That was a whole other level of cutenss in it’s self. They had their little kiddie pull filled with water and the boys played in it and had so much fun. I really kicked myself for not remembering my camera! Next time!

2012 Attempt at Self Portraits!

I finally got a tripod! This means that I can try some more light writing projects as well as attempt some self portraits! So, I’m pretty excited to say the least! =D

So, in the hopes of showing a little bit of who I am, I got my beehive on, and fancied my lips and eyes up. I really love hair and make up. It was a fun project to get all dolled up and get some pictures that I like of myself. Yes, like a lot of photographers (and people in general I guess), I rarely like pictures of myself. But in the end we’re all our own worst critics, and usually pictures of ourselves are not as bad as we think. I still look back on pictures from when I was 19 and think “Wow! Why did I think I looked bad back then?!”.  It’s complete crazyness! =)

Anyway, here’s my 2012 attempt at self portraits!

And of course because I’m a bit of an awkward creature, once my husband came out into the back yard where I was I felt a bit silly and he snapped this one of me. Oddly enough I think this is one of the best pictures of me I’ve seen in a quite a while. Awkwardness and all. <3

John + Pam: Their hitching day!

John and Pam were married in May, surrounded by an intimate gathering of friends and family on their little homestead, Peaceful Valley Farm. It was such a personal and sweet wedding, I totally adored it! Not to mention we were surrounded by all sorts of sweet farms animals! I’m a real animal lover and if I had my way I would have a little farm of my own I think. Chickens, ducks, turkeys, sheep, goats, and a big piggie were all there in the background and were certainly fun to watch and pet. It was a real Farm wedding filled with great people, lovely country backgrounds, and of course love for the wonderful couple, John and Pam! I really loved photographing their wedding day to say the least. =D
