Getting Ready On Her Wedding Day – Santa Cruz Wedding Photographer

The bridal getting ready shots are some of my favorite ones to do! I love the excitement, nerves, and laughs that always go a long with the getting ready, hair, and makeup. She is surrounded by the people in her life that are most important to her and have supported and loved her through everything. It’s just a really cool time to me and I love shooting it.

My sis-in-law (Amy Snow Photography) asked me if I wanted to come along to photograph her friend Lee getting ready for her wedding. I figured why not! I love capturing this time of the wedding day and I didn’t have anything else to do. So I was in! I loved doing these and they were such a blast. Not to mention I just about died over her little sparkly clutch! Don’t even get me started on how much I love things that glitter. It’s like there’s an 11 year old girl that lives inside of me that squeals every time I  see some sequins or what not. It just makes my heart do a little leap.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these getting ready shots!

Paul + Shana – A Beautiful Garden Wedding – Santa Cruz Wedding Photographer

I was going through my blog posts and realized I never blogged this wedding!!! This was one of my favorite weddings I shot from….2011! Yeah, I know! Who has two thumbs and waits way to long to blog stuff?! This girl! I cringe a little to think of how long I waited to get this gorgeous wedding up on my blog! You gotta see this one though! I’m still so in love with it! = )

What can I say though about these two!? I adore Shana and Paul. These two are just one of the reasons I love this job. Every time I see them (we run into each other a lot, and I just photographed Shana’s best friend, Ashley’s wedding.) it feels like I’m just catching up with old friends.  They are such a rad family (you’ll see their little girl in these photos too. She’s the beautiful little toddler girl throwing flowers and just being cute all around!) and I still feel really blessed to have met them and been the one to document their wedding day.

If you want to check out their engagement session too just got HERE.

As for now I hope you enjoy their beautiful wedding which took place at Castle House and Gardens.

XO,

-Andrea

Vacation Time, And! Into the Deep Dark Woods for Klem and Lydia’s Engagement Session!

First off! I will be gone on vacation with my hubby from October 31st to the 10th, and will be back to work on Nov 11th. I’ll return all calls and e-mails when I’m back then. This lady is looking forward to getting some sun! That’s for sure! =)

But I didn’t want to leave y’all without a little something rad for Halloween! Halloween is one of my absolutely fav holidays of the year, just in case you were wondering! Anyway, here is an engagement sesh I did with my friends Klem and Lydia. Klem is actually my tattoo artist, and Lydia I met years ago so it was cool to hear that these two fell for each other. I adore them both and whats better then two awesome people getting together right!? They are getting married in Paris next year (I know, major jealousy right!?), but I’m so excited to photograph their reception back here in the states when they get back! Paris though!? How romantic!

I affectionately named this shoot “Into The Woods”. They restored their awesome trailer and they love to travel around the country in it whenever they can. A home away from home you could say. So we thought it would be cool to do a themed out shoot with it. Just about everything we used was from their home so this is all them to the core! Super awesome, a love for all things vintage, and an affection for the slightly macabre.

And this is only one part of their engagement session! We also did some more relaxed photos at their house which were really great too. I’ll get those up soon too! I super need to catch up on blogging! So many awesome photos to get up here! Anyway, into the woods with Klem and Lydia!!

Package Junky: My Love Affair With All Things Paper and Personal | Santa Cruz Wedding Photographer

Is it just me or does it seem like we get a lot less hand written letters and personally wrapped anything except for on Christmas? I absolutely love a personal touch and there is nothing like unwrapping a package that has been carefully and thoughtfully put together just for you. It feels so special and I miss that! I don’t want to feel like just one of the masses and I sure as heck don’t want my clients to feel like that either. Because they’re not. They are unique couples who ask me to photograph some really life changing events in their lives. That is something that shouldn’t be wrapped with anything but thought and care I think.

I love me some good stationary. I see beauty in fonts and typography. And I adore a good bakers twine wrapped carefully around a bundle of gifts. In addition to the DVD with my lovely couple’s engagement session inside a sturdy metal tin, I also put in a little something extra. Below I included some brag books for two of my recent couple’s from their engagement sessions. One to keep and two to give to who they would like – or keep! lol! Who knows! I love a little free surprise though and I’m sure most people would too!

Win your wedding day Photography from Blue Lace Photography!!

Want to learn how you can win wedding photography coverage from Blue Lace Photography for your wedding day (a $2250 value)? Read on!

From my Heart:

It’s my heart to photograph couples in love. Is a matter of fact it’s my passion. I’ve spent the last two years merging my passion into a business and with that comes joy, and disappointment.  I’m an artist first and foremost. When I get a wedding inquiry in my inbox my heart does a little leap out of my chest and a smile spreads across my face. Someone has seen my work, loves it, and out of the sea of photographers out there they would love for me to photograph one of the most important days of their life – their wedding. That means so much to me.  Sometimes though after sending my pricing out to a bride I get an e-mails back saying that the bride loves my work but I’m just out of her price range, but she really wishes she could hire me. I start my full coverage at $2250 with a second shooter and more.  As far as quality wedding photography goes, I know my pricing is reasonable.  But I also know it is still not within everyone’s budget.

I don’t believe that beautiful wedding photography should only be reserved for couples who can afford it. In my heart I don’t feel that’s right. But as a business owner I know it takes money to run a business and to offer a quality product, so I do stand behind my pricing.

I want to give back though. I started wondering how I could reach those couples out there who love my work  but don’t have the budget to hire me.  So I decided to run a contest for these brides and grooms so they could have the opportunity to afford beautiful photos of their beautiful wedding day!

Whats the prize?

This coverage is valued $2250!! The prize is 8 hours of wedding day coverage with a DVD of ready to print images, and an Online Gallery to share with friends and family all priced at whatever you can afford. Basically it’s a donation of whatever works for you guys. If that’s $0, that’s totally ok. If it’s more then that works too.

How to Enter:

1. “Like” Blue Lace Photography’s Facebook page

2. Upload a photo of you and your honey along with your love story to the Blue Lace Photography Facebook page. Get your friends and family to “Like” your photo/love story on the BLP Facebook page. You can even ask your friend’s friends to “like” too!

3. Share this contest on Facebook and Pinterest using the image (the one with the logo/writing) above along with a link to this page.

4. Last but not least fill out This Form.

Extra points:

I must receive a certain number of entries in order for the contest to go ahead. So share away! I’ll update when the amount of entries needed has been received.

How will the winner be determined?

I’ll take into account your love story (I adore me a good love story!), how many “likes” your photo/story gets on the BLP Facebook page, and the information you fill out on the form. If you pin any of the images from my blog here along with the hashtag mentioned above then I’ll also take that into account when choosing the winner.
